Women Offshore is proud to highlight Klaudia Maciata, our Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Ambassador, whose career spans offshore operations, renewable energy, and international security. Her work at the intersection of these fields reflects both the evolving nature of global energy and the critical role women play in shaping it.
A Journey Toward Offshore Energy and Global Affairs
Klaudia’s career path began with a desire to carve out a unique space in an industry that was still taking shape. “When I started, offshore wind wasn’t nearly as developed as it is now,” she explains. “The international relations and offshore energy combo isn’t exactly typical, ‘offshore’ usually conjures images of sailors, captains, engineers, and STEM juggernauts. Meanwhile, I had to weave together my soft skills with two fields I’m passionate about and turn that into a career.”

Her early vision positioned her ahead of the curve, as the convergence of renewables, security, and offshore operations has only recently gained traction. In Poland, where Klaudia is based, offshore wind conversations have moved from concept to reality as the country approaches the launch of its first wind farm, a milestone she has been directly involved in through her role at Ørsted.
Offshore Energy as a Strategic Asset
In her work and writing, including contributions to NATO Review, Klaudia frames offshore energy as more than a climate solution. It is also a powerful instrument of security and diplomacy. Russia’s war in Ukraine and the urgency of energy independence have reframed wind power as a geopolitical asset. “Offshore has officially entered the strategic chat,” she says, “and dare I say, it’s finally strategically sexy.”
Inside Ørsted: Building Europe’s Offshore Future
As part of Ørsted’s Offshore Operations Management Team, Klaudia manages a broad range of responsibilities, from coordinating vessels and helicopters to ensuring compliance and supporting cross‑functional process improvements. Mentorship and stakeholder engagement are equally central to her role.

A standout moment for Klaudia was witnessing Poland’s first offshore wind farm near launch. “Being part of the team helping to establish this new sector in my home country is a tremendous professional and personal achievement,” she shares.
Women’s Leadership in Male-Dominated Fields
Klaudia’s leadership experience spans organizations like the Warsaw Security Forum and Women Offshore. She is candid about the biases women continue to face and the importance of pushing past them. “Women’s leadership is still treated as secondary,” she says. “I refuse to attach myself to ‘roles’ or gender at work. I operate on the assumption that we’re there to do the job. My actions speak louder than words, so I let my professionalism speak for itself.”

Her advice to women entering the industry is equally direct: avoid unnecessary competition, build community, and focus on personal strengths rather than comparisons. “Why race against a benchmark that was never designed for you? Be the best at being you,” she urges.
Staying Grounded Amid Complexity
Working at the intersection of security, diplomacy, and energy transition is intense, but Klaudia has learned to prioritize recovery and balance. Nature, relationships, and conscious digital habits help her navigate challenges. “No doomscrolling, no drama,” she says of her evening routine. “Managing the lows is what helps me stay steady, because the highs take care of themselves.”
The Power of Community
Klaudia describes Women Offshore as a vital source of connection in an industry that can feel isolating, especially in leadership or niche roles. As CEE Ambassador, she hopes to elevate voices from Central and Eastern Europe and build bridges between offshore operations, diplomacy, and gender equity.

One phrase Klaudia carries with her is deceptively simple: It will pass. “I apply it universally,” she explains. “Feeling stuck or hopeless? It will pass. Riding high, everything perfect? It will pass too. It’s about recognizing the inevitability of change and choosing how to respond.”
A Message to the Community
Klaudia encourages others to embrace their unique paths, no matter how winding or unconventional they may be. “The unmarked roads often lead to the best views,” she says. “And I’m proud of us, ladies—and our allies, too—who are part of this journey.”
