In episode 116, April interviews Master Mariner and Field Service Engineer IV Alaina Basciano. Alaina was actually one of the first women on the Women Offshore podcast and she returns today to share more about her involvement with Project Liberty Ship to preserve the S.S. JOHN W. BROWN, a Liberty Ship from the WWII era.

Alaina has been a member of Project Liberty Ship since she was 10 years old, helping in the Ship’s Store and Galley before moving into the Deck Department as a Deck Hand. In 2009, she graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and got her Master Unlimited license, continuing to be involved in Project Liberty Ship.

Be inspired by Alaina as she shares more about her current position on the John Brown, the importance of preserving and sharing the history of the JOHN BROWN, and the opportunities to visit, volunteer, and support the JOHN BROWN.
