Now on the Women Offshore Podcast, Captain Laura Nelson shares her lessons learned from departing her vessel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Imagine leaving your home at the end of 2019 to spend several months at sea. By mid-March in 2020, it is time to depart your vessel and fly back across the world to your home port. While on board, your communications have been minimal with limited WiFi connectivity, and your company has updated you with a new safety protocol for traveling during what you are now aware of as a pandemic.
This is the story of Captain Laura Nelson’s recent crew change. She departed her ship almost two weeks ago in Falmouth, England to fly back to Florida, after 3 months at sea. In an interview with Ally Cedeno, Captain Laura shares her experience crew changing during this unprecedented time in history and what you can do to better prepare yourself heading to or from your vessel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
